Part 2:
Exposing national security: follow the money?
Richard Fadden & Daniel Jean & Ralph Goodale & The PMO
This is getting serious.
First, the PMO compromises our Director of National Security, Daniel Jean, by parading him in front of the media to provide an Indian conspiracy theory.
Second, the Minister of Security, Ralph Goodale, cannot discuss the PMO’s conspiracy theory because either the information or process disclosed by Jean is a matter of national security.
Third, our former head spook, Richard Fadden goes public and dismisses the PMO’s conspiracy theory.
In summary, we have something without precedent in Canada: Two solid security guys and the solid security Minister very publicly on one side and the paranoid PMO lying on the other.
The public display of security establishment knives is right up there with Julius Cesar leaving the Senate.
Thus the question: What would cause the PMO to risk its relationship with the security establishment?
Having been around the block a few times, I would not be surprised if some very senior guy in the PMO is feeling the heat that comes with either running or covering up an immigration scam. In the past, these things were resolved quietly. It must be pretty bad if senior spooks and a senior Minister are publically not amused.
Let’s hope I’m wrong. But I doubt it.
