"New Brooms & Express Entry
The implied
question posed by the attached article from Corriere Canadese could not be
clearer…. Either Canada wants economic
immigrants or it does not want economic immigrants.
Express
Entry was invented by Jason Kenney. Kenney had no clue about economic
immigration or anything else. Rather than deal with substantive issues, Kenney reacted
with evidence free Potemkin Village voodoo to his tea leaf reading of populist
sentiment. This was his modus operandi
in HR&SDC, Immigration, Multiculturalism and defence. As Chair of
Management Committee, Kenney sealed the defeat of the Harper government.
Administration by chaos justified by pathological lying is hardly a winning
formula.
The issue
now is whether the country can afford to be guided by Kenney’s delusions, if
even for a few months.
It’s still
early in the game. Let’s give the new
broom an opportunity to show its stuff.
But the
initial signals are troubling:
- Immigration Minister McCullum’s mandate
letter from the PMO is silent on economic immigration.
- The Immigration Minister appears to be focused
solely on the Syrian refugee issue
Liberals
would be well advised to consider that thousands of Ontario employers and many more
thousand tax paying Ontario resident families are becoming very angry that
there is no room for their trades working cousins from Europe. Nobody minds the
Syrians. But they do mind the double standard. It’s becoming ugly. I’ve never
seen anything like it in Toronto.
The GTA has
loyalty to family and money, not to any political party.
Liberals
may wish to consider that going along with Kenney’s voodoo didn’t do Chris
Alexander or Julian Fantino or any other member of the team much good."
