Stringent language requirements
for brick layers but not multi millionaires
On April 30 2014, immigration Minister Alexander was quoted
on comments that he made about the principles that would be included in
Canada’s new investor program.
On the issue of language requirements for millionaire
investors, the Minister’s comments were quoted and commented on as follows:
Language and residency requirements would 'probably not [be] terribly
stringent'. Mr. Alexander said that the ability to speak English or French was
a useful tool for immigrants in Canada but said 'we respect the fact that not
everyone starts from the same point of departure and we give a lot of English
second-language support to those who don't have a very high level when they
arrive'
So let’s get this
straight…
- A millionaire who has never been to Canada ,has never paid
Canadian taxes , has no roots in Canada and can’t speak enough English or
French to pass a language exam will be made an immigrant
- A tradesperson who has worked legally, paid taxes, successfully
established himself in Canada and has a large family of law abiding and
tax paying Canadian citizens will
be deported even if he speaks perfect English but cannot write a well
punctuated story about travelling
in Australia or England
Am I missing
something?
